Easy Acne Remedies

Usually at some point in everyone’s life there comes a time where they struggle to find out how to get rid of acne. Having acne can make you feel uncomfortable, embarrassed and can cause serious self esteem problems. Whether you are a teenager struggling with acne or if you’ve experienced problems later in life, acne removal is never an easy task. With the large number of different acne remedies out there it can be very difficult to find which one will be the right treatment for your acne.

First off, one of the most important things to know is why your acne started in the first place. Acne is simply the result of overactive oil glands in the skin and hair follicles which ends up collecting inside the pores. These clogged pores then leave you with the unwanted pimples, black heads or zits on your face.

So many people experience acne simply because there are so many different causes of it. Some of the biggest contributors to acne are in the foods we eat. Having a diet high in trans-fatty acids, such as oils, chocolate and milk, can cause pores to clog. Some experience acne because of allergies they have to the foods they eat. Getting treatment for acne may be as simple as getting treatment for your allergies.

Water may also be playing a factor in your skin’s health. Drinking at least seven glasses of water a day will keep your skin in good condition and help it function correctly, keeping acne away.

Once you realize what the cause is then it’s time to find out how to get rid of acne. There are all kinds of creams, scrubs and age old acne remedies out there to choose from. My first advice to anyone seeking an acne remedy would be to try and stay as clean as possible. Wash your hands frequently throughout the day so to keep them from spreading oil when touching your face. Keeping your bed sheets clean can assure that no oils or dead skin left behind can infect your skin while you sleep. It is also important to wash your face every morning when you wake up, as well as at night before going to sleep. Putting your face above boiling water or taking a steamed shower are other acne remedies that don’t cost a thing and can be very helpful at unclogging pores.

For those looking to not only prevent acne but cure an existing problem an acne cream may be helpful. The most popular ingredients found in acne medications are salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid is found most often in teenage acne creams and is usually for lighter, gentler, less serious forms of acne. Benzoyl peroxide on the other hand, is a stronger form of treatment and is used for more sever forms. Applying a non-oily facial lotion twice a day can also help prevent skin damage and irritation. Lotion may also be helpful before applying any medicated creams because it opens up the pores and allows better entrance into the skin.

Because skin irritation can also occur because of a lack of essential vitamins and nutrients taking supplements may help keep acne under control, especially for those with sugar as the cause. Essential fatty acids like fish oil or omega-3 acids are also good for the skin, as well as other areas of the body. Vitamin A can be used even for some sever cases of acne because it limits the amount of oils the skin produces, keeping the pores from getting clogged.

You may test out a number of different methods while trying to find the answer to your skin problems but once you find what remedies work right for you they can really make a difference, not only in the way you look but the way you feel too. If acne is severe, you might also consider acne laser treatment.
